El Clásico is a clash between Spain’s two biggest clubs Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona, and one of the biggest and most prestigious matches in world football. The first El Clásico of the 2015/2016 La Liga season was played in Madrid in November. In charge of producing the host broadcast feed for the game, MEDIAPRO wanted to broadcast feeds in both HD and Ultra-HD. To do this, it installed a number of EVS technologies to enable the production.

Audio for sports broadcasting is a specialty that places extremely high demands on the equipment - the microphones in particular. They have to sound good while reproducing the sound of a complex, often irregular space; one must be able to set them up within a few hours; they must be easy to handle, yet robust enough to withstand wind and weather, and they must be reliable under rough, everyday conditions. And they must be nearly invisible, since they can’t be allowed to block the view of the event nor of the advertising banners. El Círculo is a morning chat show broadcast by the regional TV channel Telemadrid from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Presented by Ely del Valle, and aired for the first time ten years ago, the programme has become one of the channel’s leading shows. Every morning, with the aid of two guest journalists, presenter Del Valle interviews the leading personalities of the moment from the worlds of politics, culture, society, sports... El Círculo is the first contact with the day’s talking points, introducing the issues and topics to be developed in the news throughout the rest of the day.

French TV station TV Rennes 35, local TV station TyTélé and systems integrator PAD are at the forefront of a technological revolution. Starting with a creative concept, they have developed a fully mobile TV station in the form of an OB van using professional, yet affordable and simple to use equipment. “This is a new concept,” describes Jean-Luc Nelle, General Manager of TV Rennes 35. “The entire TV station is run from within the van.”

Montreal's Modus FX recently delivered all of the visual effects for Anton Corbijn’s The American. The thriller, which stars George Clooney, tells the story of a man who makes weapons for assassins trying to escape from his past. Set in Italy, where the protagonist has come for his final assignment, the film features lush landscapes and evocative small-town settings. In all, Modus completed 125 shots for the film, many of which were technically and artistically demanding.

The challenge

Australian sports venues are spread across a vast geographic territory that is larger than the continental US or Europe. Because much of the country’s interior is sparsely populated, covering events has until now required extensive crew travel hours and expense. Historically it was common for production team members to spend up to two days travelling to cover a one-day project. Meanwhile, the logistics of moving crew between locations meant people and infrastructure were used inefficiently. The fact that Australia’s robust market for live, local television production relies heavily on a small pool of skilled freelancers compounds the issue.

Having completed the design of Coldplay’s all new, Wigwam built control system, digital design specialist Alex Hadjigeorgiou, along with Account Manager, Chris Hill, have taken the technical design lead for the fibre infrastructure on the band’s latest trans-Atlantic tour, A Headful of Dreams.

Night of the Proms is a series of concerts held yearly in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain. Regularly there are also shows in France, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Scandinavian countries. The concerts consist of a combination of pop music and popular classical music (often combined) and various well-known musicians and groups usually participate. Night of the Proms is the biggest annually organized indoor event in Europe. The annual production of the DVD (in future also on Blu-ray available) was carried out at the concert in Cologne by the Belgium High Definition Production company “Outside Broadcast”.

OSU simplifies multi-platform streaming and expands audience reach for important events

On stage receiving a hard-earned degree is a poignantly thrilling moment. So is winning a coveted sports trophy. Oklahoma State University (OSU) is on hand to capture as well as share such student experiences. OSU’s official video portal OStateTV is home to over 1,000 videos and more than 100 live streams in a year. The live-streamed events range from convocations, pageants (Miss OSU), cultural nights, and sports, to a variety of speakers and seminars hosted on campus.
