With a crowd of 75,000 followers, Pope Benedict XVI’s voice during mass at the Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, Scotland was entrusted with SSE Audio Group’s deployment of two Soundcraft Vi6 digital consoles. With a 35-piece orchestra, 800-piece choir and pre and post-show concerts, the religious event required reliable and vast amounts of digital channels to ensure no note or prayer was unheard.

TiMax Tracker and Carmen In-the-Round in Switzerland

Due to unprecedented demand from Switzerland’s classical outdoor festival circuit, TiMax distributor Bleuel Electronics AG have invested in additional TiMax Tracker and TiMax2 SoundHub systems from UK developer Out Board. With their existing rental stock already fully committed to other shows, Bleuel purchased a further TiMax SoundHub-R32 delay matrix and four-sensor TiMax Tracker (TT) performer tracking system to service a spectacular in-the-round production of Carmen being staged outdoors in Schinznach Dorf.

The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert is in terms of international coverage the largest classical music event in the world. In 2011 the concert will once again be broadcast on television and radio to over 70 countries worldwide. Franz Welser-Möst, following in the footsteps of Clemens Krauss, Josef Krips, Willi Boskovsky, Herbert von Karajan and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, becomes the sixth Austrian conductor to stand at the helm of the Vienna Philharmonic on the first day of the New Year.

One of the biggest annual events in Huddersfield, the Festival of Light, once again made a great impression in 2010. The festival took place from 02nd – 05th December 2010, and alongside the main event in St George’s Square there were a wide range of fringe events taking place across the town. Part of the festival this year was ‘Light Trail’, an event that saw several of the towns landmarks illuminated, with the display commencing at 4pm every afternoon for the duration of the festival.

Worms is ranked top among German historic cities. According to the Nibelungen saga, Siegfried the dragon slayer was murdered here by Hagen von Tronje at the Court of Burgundy. Now the city is going to take advantage of its rich history and location in the heart of Europe by positioning itself as a point where culture and business meet. On January 29 a new convention centre in the heart of Worms, built by Gerkan, Marg and Partner architects, open its doors together with the completely refurbished municipal theatre. Installation of all audio and video systems in the sprawling complex was undertaken by the systems integrator division of the SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP.

The „Schauspielhaus Bochum“ (Playhouse Bochum) is one of Germany’s biggest and best known theatres. Build in 1908 as a Variety theatre, it became the town theatre in 1915 and was the biggest stage in the “Ruhrgebiet”. During an air raid in 1944 it was nearly completely destroyed, and then rebuilt based on the design of architect Gerhard Moritz Graubner in an operation lasting until 1953.
