When Machu Picchu was founded in the 15th-century by the Incas it was a completely unique town.The buildings were located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level, situated ona narrow mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. Thecity was abandoned a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Often Machu Picchu is referred to as the "Lost Cityof the Incas", and it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.

Christoph Willibald von Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice was held during June and July against the royal backdrop of Soestdijk Palace in Utrecht, attracting 1,500 people per night. Renowned acoustician David Bell has been conferred the title of LIPA Companion by the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which announced the honour at its graduation day on Friday 29th July, 2011.

The Cannes International Film, founded in 1946, is the most prestigious film festival in the world. The 64th edition took place in May at the Palais des Festivals. “Follies,” the famous musical, currently was on a six week run from May 7th to June 19th in the 1,100 seat Eisenhower Theatre at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C., USA. Winner of seven Tony Awards when it opened on Broadway in 1971, “Follies” is considered by many one as James Goldman’s and Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece.

Products from AJA Video Systems featured prominently in the video infrastructure of the 2011 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, held in April and May. Louisiana-based Full Motion Productions handled tapeless recording of performances using AJA Ki Pro digital recorders for archiving and streaming, and put multiple AJA FS1 HD/SD audio and video converters to work supporting on-site big-screen projection of live performances on the main stages.

A grandMA2 light was specified by lighting programmer and operator David Horner to control moving lights and media for the 20th annual British Academy Cymru Awards (Welsh BAFTAs) held at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Wales UK. The event was hosted by Sian Williams and Jason Mohammed and celebrated the best of the nation's television, film and interactive industry in 26 programme, craft and performance categories.

On a fine day in April, not all of those invited to the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton were sitting, dressed in their finery, in the pews for the ceremony; two smartly turned out STAGETEC equipped outside broadcast trucks were at Westminster Abbey to cover the event for the BBC, one for TV and one for Radio.

Although it can be said that the innovative TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) has never been your grandma’s conference, Bob Bonniol, principal creative director of Seattle’s MODE Studios, took a grandMA2 to TED2011 and was happy with the results.

Lighting designer Rob Mills used a grandMA2 light as his control platform for a recent production of Verdi's "Aida" at the Epsom Playhouse in Surrey, UK. The week long production by Riverside Opera was directed by James Hurley who is a regular client of Mills, a busy theatre and opera LD, who also lights corporate and live events.
