Trucks from BBC Radio Outside Broadcast’s new fleet each equipped with STAGETEC consoles or routers, hit the road recently and travelled to Bangor, Gwynedd for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the first major British music festival of 2010. The live action, interviews and activities were covered on Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, BBC Three and via the television Red Button.

Haivision Network Video today announced that its Makito™ HD H.264 encoder and Mako™ HD H.264 decoder were employed by Alcatel-Lucent during the Match Race Germany 2010 in May, in the first use of 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) technology for a live mobile broadcast. In partnership with online video technology provider stream5 and network operator Teledata, Alcatel-Lucent used Haivision equipment to stream the popular yacht race live online.

UK broadcaster BBC and news producer ITN called on Shotoku Broadcast Systems to help televise the recent UK parliamentary election, one of the most closely observed and hotly contested for decades. Practice makes perfect – certainly for RTV Slovenija, who are broadcasting the FIFA World Cup™ in full HD for the first time after fine-tuning the process at the Beijing Olympic Games and at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. “Beijing was a test event for us in HD and then Vancouver was the first major project where we relayed everything to our viewers in HD – it gave us great experience for this event,” explained Producer Mateja Mir.
