WDR Philharmonie switches to IP with Lawo mc²96 and sapphire
Lawo technology was installed in the "Philharmonie Production Complex" of Cologne-based German public broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) as part of a fundamental modernization. The Lawo equipment was integrated into the audio network, which had also been upgraded. Internally, the overall project responsibility was on the WDR Department for Music and Production, and it was carried out by the WDR Planning and Project Engineering Department. The system integration was implemented by the Cologne-based company Mediatec Video- und Audio-Service GmbH.

A Kinesys automation system and Vector control system have been on the road with a new and updated North America touring version of the hugely popular and successful blockbuster musical WE WILL ROCK YOU, directed by JP Thibodeau and featuring the music of Queen, produced by Annerin Theatricals of Alberta, Canada.This is the first time Annerin has used Kinesys products – two half-ton Elevation vari-speed hoists and the Vector – which is being supplied to the production by Christie Lites – and operated by Pippa Bagley who is also the video systems tech together with the tour’s production manager. The LX systems tech is Adam Volk.

SMPTE®, the organization whose standards work has supported a century of advances in entertainment technology, today announced that it will host a free webcast — open to the public — explaining the basics of the new SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards for professional media over IP (internet protocol) networks.
