London's Albany Theatre has invested in a new grandMA2 ultra-light console to replace their old lighting desk. The Albany in Deptford east London, is a busy producing and receiving house, and one of London's leading performing arts venues to showcase a dynamic and lively range of alternative and new works as well as youth and community based projects. The decision to go with grandMA2 was made by Head of Production Fiona Greenhill and Technical Manager Ben Wallace.

At 20.15h on April 15th and 17th, state broadcaster "Das Erste" celebrated ARD’s 60th Birthday with two excellent shows. Together with his celebrity guests, host Reinhold Beckmann presented the most emotional moments, the greatest stars and the most popular broadcasts from 60 years of ARD. Many fantastic clips from the early days of the First German Television, moving conversations, fun games and many surprises ensured two unforgettable evenings.

As pilot season winds down, everyone is waiting to see what new television shows will get the “green light”. To get the best look possible for new sitcom pilots, eight-time Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Donald A. Morgan, ASC, is many a producer’s first choice.

Lighting and video content for multiple LED surfaces at the 2010 Miss Universe Slovakia beauty pageant, staged in the SIBAMAC Arena, Bratislava, was controlled by 2 x grandMA full-size consoles, 6 x video stations with the MA VPU software (Video Processing Unit) and 6 x MA NSPs (Network Processing Units). The show – which regularly draws one of the highest annual ratings on Slovakian TV - was broadcast live on national STV1, and featured an enthusiastic audience of 5,000 people.

On April 15th, the world’s largest trade fair for film and television technology ended. For some people the journey back home from the NAB in Las Vegas took longer than expected – due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland which suspended the air traffic. However, the trip was worth it. Producers from all over the world presented their technological innovations which are designed to facilitate the work in the film industry and to open up new dimensions. Numerous of these new products can be seen for the first time in Germany at the cinec from 18th to 20th September.

A grandMA2 full-size, a grandMA2 light and an MA NPU (Network Processing Unit) are on tour with the 2010 X-Factor Live arena show, which have been specified and are operated and owned by Lighting Designer Neil Trenell.

The 22-year old Barbados-born singer stole this year’s show with a performance of her latest single Rude Boy, her first on German television, alongside two giant animatronic robots. Pop newcomer Ke$ha treated the audience to a raucous rendition of her recent number one hit Tik Tok while Sade performed Soldier of Love from her new album.
