ELEMENTS revolutionises cloud workflows

ELEMENTS was founded to provide maximum flexibility and efficiency to media workflows in challenging environments like postproduction. Now there are huge practical and financial benefits in embracing the cloud for remote processing as well as storage, and ELEMENTS is extending its proven principles to provide a coherent media platform which seamlessly unites on-premise storage and the cloud.

For the creative user, this means access to content through the media library wherever it is physically stored: the material appears in the appropriate workspace whether it is on premises, at a remote facility or in the cloud. The media library also supports full metadata transfer, meaning for example that a rough cut can be imported directly into Avid Media Composer Da Vinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro.

Technology on show at IBC for the first time include the new BeeGFS operating system, developed by the Fraunhofer Centre for High Performance Computing. This game-changing operating system is benchmarked to provide unrivalled stream counts, throughput and stream count per storage device.

BeeGFS will be shown operating on the new, all-NVMe ELEMENTS BOLT storage appliance. A single 2U BOLT can store as much as 300TB and continually deliver 70GB per second. As well as this stunning performance, the move to solid state storage means it consumes only around a tenth of the power of an equivalent disk-based device, a huge boost to a business’s carbon reduction programme.
