Ikegami Maintains Focus on Broadcast Innovation at IBC2015
Ikegami, a leader in the development and manufacture of broadcast-quality cameras and production equipment, will show its wide range of systems and technologies at IBC2015 in Amsterdam, September 11-15. Broadcast innovation will be a major theme of the exhibit, including demonstrations of new 4K and 8K cameras. JVC Announces GY-LS 4KCAM Version 2.0 Firmware Upgrade
JVC Professional Video, a division of JVCKENWOOD USA Corporation, announced the Version 2.0 firmware upgrade for its GY-LS300 4KCAM handheld Super 35 camcorder. The upgrade adds a “JVC Log” mode that practically duplicates the look of film, plus new Cinema 4K and Cinema 2K recording modes, a unique Prime Zoom feature that uses the camera’s innovative technology to allow zoom capabilities when using prime lenses, and a histogram. Free for all current owners, the upgrade will be available in September 2015.

Outside broadcast and post provider Timeline Television has installed a Calrec console in UHD1, TimelineTV's first 4K/UHD OB truck. Timeline built the truck primarily to provide content for BT Sport, which launched Europe's first live sports UHD channel on August 1st.
VER to Purchase 50 Sony HDC-4300 Cameras
Video Equipment Rentals (“VER”), a leading, global provider of production equipment and engineering support, today announced it has ordered 50 Sony HDC-4300 camera systems. Sony’s HDC-4300 is the world’s first camera to use three 2/3-inch native 4K image sensors. The new camera – the next generation of HDC series camera technology – lets operators use the vast array of 2/3-inch ENG and high magnification and long zoom range box lenses currently used by HD 2/3-inch systems while maintaining an angle of view and depth of field that sports producers are accustomed to. The system allows the capture of premium 4K or HD images, as well as up to 8x high frame rate.

Axon Helps BT Sport And Timeline Deliver Europe’s First Ultra HD Live Sports Broadcast
OB provider Timeline Television relied on Axon’s 4K Synapse processing and Cerebrum advanced monitoring and control system to deliver UK sports broadcaster BT Sport’s first live 4K match-day production earlier this month.
BT Sport and Timeline collaborated on the build of a bespoke OB vehicle with an innovative 4K production workflow featuring a number of technology firsts, including a new range of 4K signal processing and distribution tools from Axon. BT Sport launched Europe’s first live sports Ultra HD (4K) channel, BT Sport Ultra HD, in early August, with its first live broadcast being the FA Community Shield match at Wembley on August 2 between Chelsea and Arsenal.
Thomson Video Networks Demonstrates UHD Broadcasting of HDR Content
Highlighting its new ViBE® 4K real-time compression solution for Ultra HD (UHD) broadcasting, Thomson Video Networks will demonstrate encoding of a live UHD TV signal to distribute high-dynamic-range (HDR) content at IBC2015. ViBE 4K enables media enterprises to leverage high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) to provide an optimal video experience to consumers through live compression of UHD sources at up to 60 frames per second and in 10-bit color. ViBE 4K with HDR support will be commercially available in early 2016.
