The agreement with SportA, the sports rights agency of German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, grants the pay-TV operator the right to show the Match of the Day live in UHD on all tournament days. Financial details of the sublicensing deal were not disclosed. The Sky Sport UHD offer is available to all Sky subscribers in Germany who use the Sky+ Pro receiver and have an Ultra HD TV set.

Canon today releases its flagship full frame Cinema EOS camera, the C700 FF. The EOS C700 FF also supports multi-format recording, shooting with EF, PL and anamorphic lenses. Hitachi Bridges HDTV and 4K Production with New CU HD1300F-S1 CCU

Continuing to enable broadcasters and production companies to adopt Ultra HD (UHD) at their own preferred pace, Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) today announced the CU-HD1300F-S1 HDTV camera control unit with 4K, 12G-SDI output. Transforming 1080p to Ultra HD with support for High Dynamic Range (HDR), the new CCU will be showcased alongside other HITACHI unveilings in booth C4309 at the upcoming NAB2018 (April 9-12, Las Vegas). The company also announced an optional firmware upgrade for its SK-UHD4000 4K Ultra HD camera system to enhance simultaneous HDR and Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) acquisition. New optional 12Gbps SDI output capabilities for the accompanying CU-HD4000 CCU have also been added to its existing quad-link SDI interface.

DTC Broadcast to showcase breakout wireless 4K transmitter at NAB2018

Until now, the volume of raw data transmission required for 4K/UHD production has made wireless cameras largely impractical for live sport, event, and news applications. However, cameras equipped with DTC’s AEON-TX can now transmit 4K UHD video formats up to and including 2160p60 by taking advantage of the extremely efficient encoding technology built into the AEON-TX.

Piecing together the right combination of equipment for a mobile production truck is challenging, but establishing a workflow for a 4K/UltraHD HDR truck is a whole new ball game, one that Mobile TV Group’s (MTVG) Peter Wehner excels at. As Director of Engineering, Wehner is one of the architects behind MTVG’s 30 mobile production units, which service more than 4,000 sporting and entertainment productions a year for CBS, CNBC, Fox and DIRECTV, among others. Working alongside MTVG CEO Philip Garvin, Wehner helped build out MTVG’s 53’ 4K HDR Double Expando – the first mobile production unit to deliver a live 4K/UltraHD HDR telecast in the U.S. The mobile unit houses 14 AJA FS-HDRs for real time HDR conversion and 4K/UltraHD/HD frame synchronization as well as 12 AJA FS1-Xs and 12 AJA UDCs for HD up, down, cross-conversion and frame-synching.
