AMP Visual TV announced today that it has chosen Sony Professional to equip the first French outside broadcast van for 3D production. The final delivery of the van is scheduled for April 2010. The collaboration between the two companies led to developing a new generation vehicle whose innovative production methods will provide live broadcasting in totally immersive 3D.

TV coverage specialist AMP VISUAL TV, an innovator in the design of outside broadcast (OB) vans for remote video productions, has outfitted its newest 4K HDR OB van — Millenium 6 — with an extensive complement of Riedel Communications equipment. Following the successful deployment of its Millenium Signature 12 (MS12) OB van, AMP VISUAL TV has again invested in Riedel gear to ensure flexible, reliable communications and signal transport within Millenium 6.

The “Car 8”, owned and operated by the French Company AMP is one of two European HD OBVans which are equipped for 3D shooting of 25 games at the FIFA World Cup. “Car 8” will be in charge of the 3D shooting of one match in Durban and 15 matches in Johannesburg, shared between Soccer City Stadium and Ellis Park Stadium. "Car 8" has been chosen for the international broadcasting of the opening match and the final match of the FIFA World Cup in 3D.

As an estimated 2 billion viewers watched the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, three rigs with six Angénieux Optimo DP zooms recorded the event in 3D for broadcast on BSkyB in the days that followed. Three Element Technica Quasar rigs were mounted with 3 pairs ARRI Alexa cameras, 2 pairs of matching 16-42 mm Optimo DPs and 1 pair of matching Angénieux Optimo DP 30-80 mm lenses.

Organizers of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run series announced today that the running and walking event hosted in collaboration with the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) is going virtual for 2020. The 4K 4Charity series leverages fun, healthy activities to raise funds for nonprofits focused on increased diversity and inclusion in the technology and media industries.
