Arena Television (Redhill, UK), providing outside broadcast event coverage to their customers, has just installed Lawo’s System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry Solution (SMART) for Broadcast Networks in their latest IP-based OB truck. The company is already an extensive user of the vendor-agnostic Lawo VSM IP broadcast control system to establish comprehensive unified workflows across the trucks’ all-IP infrastructure. With vsmSOUL, VSM introduces market leading state of-the-art IP orchestration alongside traditional control functionality, such as vsmTally in a single, fully integrated solution.

Arena Television will use BarnOne and BarnMini products, including the new BarnMini-07 CWDM multiplexers, to transport signals from these next generation production trucks to remote positions.

Arena Television is one of the UK’s leading outside broadcast service providers, supporting a prestigious range of sports and events clients with a fleet of more than 20 fully equipped OB trucks plus the associated services of Arena Aviation. The family-owned company, in business since 1989, is making the move to 4K UHD and embracing developments in IP-based video production with its three new trucks that will be rolling out over the next year. To realize this vision, Arena turned to Grass Valley, a Belden Brand.

The major task and benefit of using the VSM system is that – even though the technology under the hood is being used for the first time – the workflow for the operators in the OB Van is the same as that of a “standard” OB Van. The VSM system creates a familiar workflow for users, and is the only control system on the market that is able to work in a fully IP-based environment as well as with other third-party equipment.

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, is distributing the live 3D TV broadcast of the 2011 French Tennis Open to up to 650 retail stores in the UK and Ireland. Working on behalf of Panasonic and Freesat, Arqiva is providing teleport, multiplexing and distribution services to downlink the live 3D feed from Eurosport and turn it around onto Freesat’s satellite capacity giving a number of stores access to the live feed. This is enabling live demonstrations of Panasonic’s Full HD 3D TVs in participating stores.

Arqiva has worked with major rights holder More2Screen to deliver a world first to digital cinema audiences around the UK and Ireland. On 23 February Arqiva’s digital cinema satellite platform distributed the world’s first live opera to cinemas in digital 3D. The English National Opera performance of Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia was directed by Oscar-winning film director Mike Figgis.

Sony has selected Arqiva as their technology partner for the live global 3D distribution of the 2011 Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships to worldwide cinemas. This will be the first time this famous tournament has been transmitted live to cinemas or seen in stunning high-definition 3D, and so it represents an innovative and unique viewing opportunity for tennis enthusiasts all around the world. Four key matches will be transmitted - the men’s semi-finals, the women’s final and the men’s final.

Given the technical characteristics of the satellite environment and its inherent suitability to 3D TV broadcasts, it was to be expected that satellite broadcasters would be amongst the pioneers of this new platform. So it follows that a good indicator of the platform’s mainstream appeal would be when terrestrial broadcasters start to evaluate its application across their networks.

Arqiva has partnered with SuperVision Media to distribute the 2012 Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships Men's Final, live and in 3D to cinemas around the world. Arqiva’s Digital Cinema Satellite Distribution System provided the complete global transmission chain including SNG uplink, teleport services and satellite capacity.

ARRI is proud to extend its relationship with the CAMERON - PACE Group (CPG) by announcing a cooperative partnership in the development of the ALEXA M camera system, due for first concept showing at the NAB Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since the launch of the ALEXA digital camera in June 2010, leading directors and cinematographers have adopted the camera as the most sophisticated solution for digital cinematography.

ARRI announced that the new ALEXA camera is currently shipping. Production ramp-up of the new camera is now underway, with initial delivery priority given to customers who purchased the flagship D-21 camera following ALEXA’sunveiling to the market at IBC2009.

In order to facilitate its business in France, ARRI, the Munich-based film technology company, is announcing the founding of ARRI CT France (CT for Cine Technik). For the first time, ARRI will have an office space solely dedicated to its Camera Systems and Lighting Business Units in France while being able to offer a special promotional platform for the ALEXA 65 available from ARRI Rental. This increased presence not only strengthens the ARRI brand but also encourages synergies and cross sales between the company’s various Business Units. “Considering that the French film industry is one of the strongest and most prestigious in the world, we are very pleased about expanding our capabilities in this important film market,” comments Dr. Jörg Pohlman, Executive Board Member of the ARRI AG.

At the BSC Expo in London, ARRI today unveils a complete large-format system that meets and exceeds modern production requirements, delivering unprecedented creative freedom. Based on a large-format 4K version of the ALEXA sensor, the system comprises the ALEXA LF camera, ARRI Signature Prime lenses, LPL lens mount, and PL-to-LPL adapter. It is also compatible with existing lenses, accessories, and workflows.

The ALEXA M camera program has achieved its first major schedule milestone, with production prototypes of the ALEXA M starting to ship to James Cameron and Vince Pace, Co-Chairmen of CAMERON | PACE Group (CPG), the industry leader in 3D technologies and production services from slate to screen. CPG announced a strategic collaboration with ARRI at NAB 2011.

The acceptance meeting for the construction project of 4K studio center system covering 1,400m² in Communication University of China was held on October 18, 2016. Attending experts came from institutions, including State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, CCTV, BTV, PTV, National Center for the Performance Arts, Communication University of China, etc. All the experts carefully reviewed such an important project constructed by Sony and agreed to accept the project, that is to say, Communication University of China officially started to use Asia’s First 4K Studio in university from then on.
