The Centro Televisivo Vaticano (CTV — Vatican Television Centre) has announced a major overhaul of the equipment used for its live footage capture. By this autumn, their OB-8 OB truck will be fully kitted out with 4K technology and will feature eight Sony HDC-4300 cameras, a 4K PWS-4400 server and a 4K MVS-7000X switcher.

At this year’s Integrated Systems Show at Amsterdam, Natural View Systems from Buttenheim (Germany) will present a world first: the iVu display system for spatially enhanced stereoscopic reproduction of video images. The patents pending algorithm used by iVu computes a 3-D spatial image from every possible digital 2D-content. The system outputs the processed signal in real-time and is applicable to video content in any format and resolution. Watching spatial video produced by iVu requires just a standard HD autostereoscopic screen. The image can be enjoyed without glasses as the spectators are used to it by other systems.

The Meduza, the first single beyond 4K digital stereoscopic 3D (S3D) camera ever developed, unveiled by Meduza Systems at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB) last week in Las Vegas, is the recipient of the 19th Annual Mario Award given by TV Technology Magazine. The announcement was made today by Chris Cary, CEO, 3D Visual Enterprises, the UK based parent company of Meduza Systems. Mario Awards are given out annually by TV Technology Magazine, the industry’s leading magazine for technology news, at the NAB convention to companies that demonstrate forward thinking and technical excellence in their products.

The Meduza TITAN, the first fully controllable, lightweight, 3D precision single HD camera with 1080p dual sensors, a solution for 3D television production, developed by the Irvine, CA based 3D technology company, Meduza Systems, has launched today.  The announcement was made by Chris Cary, CEO of 3D Visual Enterprises, the UK parent company of Meduza Systems. Cary will preview the TITAN at a special New Technology Press Luncheon presentation, hosted by Createasphere, the Entertainment Technology Exposition, Wed., Nov. 2, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Marriott Hotel in Burbank.

London-based bespoke post production facility, The Look, has upgraded its six Grass Valley Rio high performance online editing and post production systems to support multiple, simultaneous streams of 4K and 8K playback. Rio forms the heart of the facility’s Dolby Vision certified post production pipeline along with the Rio Connect collaborative workflow engine and Rio Assist software. The Look decided to future-proof its facility after winning contracts to post several major drama series for 2019 and 2020.
