DTC Domo Broadcast to feature wireless HEVC 4K UHD solution at CABSAT 2018
The accelerating demand for UHD and HDR has until now been hampered by the limited ability of wireless-equipped cameras to transmit vast volumes of raw data, making them almost useless for covering live sport, events, and news in 4K. However, by taking advantage of the extremely efficient, ultra-low delay HEVC SD, HD, and 4K encoding technology built into the AEON-TX transmitter, operators in any wireless application can now transmit 4K UHD video formats up to and including 2160p60.

In August, 12,000 athletes representing universities from around the world gathered in Taipei for the 2017 Summer Universiade. Organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Universiade is the college equivalent of the Olympics, where the highest performing college athletes compete in a range of disciplines from basketball to gymnastics, badminton and beyond. Highlights from each competition this year were broadcast live to TV stations, like Chinese Television System (CTS), distributed via satellite and streamed live on Universiade’s website. The event marked one of the earliest large scale UltraHD sports broadcasts in Asia, with the opening and closing ceremonies broadcast live in UltraHD using AJA technology.

Wohler Supplies CSS Group with iAM-Audio for Hybrid Monitoring
When CCTV, China’s major public broadcaster, launched an initiative to update its OB trucks to 4K, it turned to CSS Group to supply the most suitable equipment for the station’s upgrade. For audio monitoring, CSS Group relied on its 15-year-relationship with Wohler Technologies, a leading manufacturer of video, audio and data monitoring solutions, to provide its high-quality audio signal monitoring and metering solutions. SMPTE Publishes ST 2110 Standards for Media Over Managed IP Networks

"The standardization of SMPTE ST 2110 documents provides broadcasters, producers, and media technology suppliers with the tools they need to meet these requirements while working in the IP realm."
Fujifilm to Highlight 4K HDR Lens Range During the Annual SVG Summit
Attendees at the annual SVG Summit on December 11-12th will get a first-hand look at the widest range of 4K HDR optics currently available. The Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM will demonstrate its UA Series of 2/3” lenses, which include eight models designed specifically for 4K HDR broadcast and video production, in the exhibits section of the event. Live broadcast specialist BSI has completed a series of live tests with the 4K version of their wireless camera system. The company aims to be the first to use a low delay 4K wireless camera system live on air at a broadcast event.
Bexel Adds Sony PXW-Z450 4K Camcorders to Inventory
Bexel, an NEP Broadcast Services Company, has greatly expanded its 4K and HDR capabilities with the purchase of five Sony PXW-Z450 camcorders, the first 4K shoulder-style cameras to join the Bexel rental inventory. Over the next year, Bexel will increase its investment to 20 of the Sony camcorders, which will see their first use for coverage of the upcoming events in PyeongChang, South Korea.
