AJA Introduces New FiDO 12G SDI/Optical Fiber Mini-Converters at IBC2017
At IBC 2017, AJA Video Systems unveiled a new line of FiDO 12G to Fiber/Fiber to 12G Mini-Converters. New price reductions have also been announced for the Hi5-4K-Plus (3G-SDI to HDMI 2.0) and 3GM (3G/1.5G Mux/DeMux) Mini-Converters, bringing the costs down from $695 to $595, and $795 to $495 respectively
New 4K/UHD studio and playout facilities in Switzerland
Marking the start of new TV-station MySports of Swiss Cable provider UPC, the company commissioned NEP Switzerland as technology and production partner for building and running new 4K/UHD broadcast facilities. Together with general contracting partner Broadcast Solutions GmbH the Swiss TV production company, part of the NEP global network, is currently integrating the latest broadcast technology in a studio plus Playout Center and an additional remote studio at two locations.

Sony Unveils VENICE, its First 36x24mm Full-Frame Digital Motion Camera
Sony Professional Solutions Europe is unveiling VENICE – its first full-frame digital motion picture camera system. - Silent movies lasted from 1895 – 1936
- B&W TV started in 1928
- The first U.S. color transmission was in 1954 (Tournament of Roses) but B&W reigned for another dozen years

Why? Lack of content, high cost of production and lack of viewing screens.
The M&E industry has a lot of challenges, issues, opportunities on its plate but the Amsterdam event (Sept 14-19) is focused on helping the industry be prepared to prosper in the next 50 years.
National Theatre Live delivers its first HDR production thanks to SAM
Snell Advanced Media (SAM) today announced that the UK’s National Theatre has delivered its first HDR/UHD production thanks to SAM’s latest Kahuna production switcher. The two-part live broadcast of the National Theatre Live’s Angels in America was produced by Production Company, Creative Broadcast Solutions together with OB company, Telegenic. SAM’s Kahuna production switcher was running the latest version of the FormatFusion technology, bringing HDR capabilities to all inputs and outputs, and was deployed in Telegenic’s OB truck.

Calrec lands knockout blow for F&F Productions' new truck
Calrec Audio's Artemis Beam is providing top-quality sound on board F&F Productions' all-new 4K HDR production truck, GTX-18. The truck rolled into Anaheim, California, last week for its first show, a UHD broadcast of the UFC fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier for AT&T Entertainment/DirecTV viewers.
UEFA delivers the world’s first UHD IP remote production trial
UEFA has delivered the world’s first uncompressed UHD remote production trial during the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Final, held in Poland in June, in collaboration with Snell Advanced Media (SAM) and system’s integrator, Gearhouse Broadcast. During the Championship final game, the IP system – which replaced a traditional OB set up - delivered live camera signals from the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Stadium in Krakow, Poland to UEFA who were located at BT Sport’s facility at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, around 1600km away, ready for live edit and playout.
F&F Productions selects FUJINON 4k UHD lenses to outfit GTX-18 4K
For the company’s first 4K mobile unit, F&F Productions, LLC, chose 17 FUJINON 4K UHD lenses to outfit the Sony HDC-4300 4K cameras systems on board the newest member of its fleet, the GTX-18 4K HDR Mobile Unit. The new unit will have eight UA107x8.4BESM 4K studio lenses, five UA18x5.5BERD 4K portable zooms, three UA14x4.5BERD 4K portable zooms, and one UA22x8BERD 4K portable lenses.
