From November, Australian cricket fans will be able to view live matches in greater detail than ever before on Foxtel’s new dedicated UHD (ultra-high definition-4K) channel. Grass Valley and Arena Television demonstrated their collaboration to drive live UHD HDR IP productions at IBC 2018. On display in Hall 9 beside the Grass Valley booth, the new OBZ end-to-end IP UHD HDR truck – the newest in Arena’s fleet of IP-enabled OB trucks – showed how IP-based infrastructures and workflows can be optimized for live OB production environments.

Arena Television (Redhill, UK), providing outside broadcast event coverage to their customers, has just installed Lawo’s System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry Solution (SMART) for Broadcast Networks in their latest IP-based OB truck. The company is already an extensive user of the vendor-agnostic Lawo VSM IP broadcast control system to establish comprehensive unified workflows across the trucks’ all-IP infrastructure. With vsmSOUL, VSM introduces market leading state of-the-art IP orchestration alongside traditional control functionality, such as vsmTally in a single, fully integrated solution.

Polish broadcast provider Ekstraklasa Live Park plans to produce live broadcasts of the Polish Football Premier League in UltraHD for the 2019 season. To meet this ambitious production goal, Ekstraklasa tapped German integrator Broadcast Solutions to build out a new OB van to accommodate both HDR and SDR workflows. Several products from AJA Video Systems, including ten FS-HDR Frame Sync and HDR/WCG Converters, a Ki Pro Ultra Plus recorder/player, and Hi5-4K-Plus and 12GM Mini-Converters will drive and streamline the setup.

Qvest Media, one of the world’s leading systems architects and ICT integrators for broadcast and media technology, has designed, developed and equipped an OB van and a DSNG vehicle with advanced 4K/UHD broadcast technology for the Berlin-based international news agency Ruptly. One of the first missions for the two vehicles was the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
