T-VIPS, a global leader in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, announced that its TVG450 JPEG2000 Video Gateway helped make possible the live 3D transmission of Gounod’s Faust from Stockholm’s Folkoperan opera house to the city’s Filmhuset digital cinema. The event was produced by Public Live AB, and T-VIPS’ transport solution was chosen by technology provider TwentyFourSeven. Prominent guests at the live 3D opera premiere, included Sweden’s Minister of Culture Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth and the Mayor of Stockholm, Sten Nordin. By employing new 3D technologies the cinema audience experienced a richer performance - almost as though they were present in the opera house.

Premier New Zealand-based facility, Park Road Post Production has purchased another four SGO Mistika 4K systems, including a Mistika Software License Agreement for the Weta Group, to enhance its existing Mistika-centric stereoscopic 3D production pipeline and meet the high demands for their upcoming work in stereo 3D. This significant investment quickly follows the recent purchase of two Mistika 4K systems last September, with the facility now hosting a total number of six powerful Mistika 4K workstations. Mistika now forms the nucleus of Park Road's stereo 3D infrastructure, placing Mistika at the heart of their stereo 3D workflow.

SGO's Mistika was used by Hi-Ground Media for the complete post production of the stunning Red Bull 3D action sports documentary, titled Red Bull Rampage 3D: The Evolution. In association with Action 3D Productions, the high-profile programme was directed by Mike McEntire and Wayne Miller and lead by Executive Producer Gregg Katano.

Filmmaker James Cameron and acclaimed cinematographer and CEO of PACE, Vince Pace, will deliver the opening keynote address on Monday, April 11 at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas. Cameron, the creative force behind the two highest grossing motion pictures of all time, and Pace, a world-renowned visual effects visionary and 3D innovator, will discuss recent developments and innovations in 3D technology and storytelling and future implications for the entertainment industry at large.

Cel-Soft has chosen NAB 2011 as the international launch venue for the latest version of its Cel-Scope3D stereoscopic analyser. Exhibiting in partnership with Leader Instruments on booth C7833 in the Central hall, Cel-Soft will demonstrate a faster and more powerful upgrade of the system, including a portable version running a laptop.

TV4 Group, one of Scandinavia's largest and most active television networks, has selected ATG Broadcast to design and install a playout management and presentation facility for the network's new standard-definition channel Guld Norge (Norway Gold) plus a sports events channel capable of operating in 3D high-definition. The new facility is located at TV4's Stockholm headquarters. Based on the TV4 Guld model successfully established in Sweden, Guld Norge will provide Norwegian viewers with a wide range of programmes, including classic television drama.

SENSIO Technologies Inc. (SENSIO) (TSX-V: SIO) today announced the continued expansion of the SENSIO® 3D Live Network, now composed of more than 750 screens. The Montreal company is partnering with Circuit George Raymond (CGR Cinémas) to add its network of 34 multiplexes, enabling access to live 3D events for the inhabitants of 34 French cities. Activating this new branch, the last match of the renowned and much-followed 2011 RBS 6 Nations Championships, pitting France against Wales at the Stade de France, will be screened on Saturday, March 19.

The 3D live broadcast of the concert by the German hip hop stars “Die Fantastischen Vier” took place on September 28, 2010 during the two and a half day innovation congress "Forward2Business: The Magic of the Third Dimension" (27. to 29. September 2010) conducted by the Mitteldeutsches Multimediazentrum Halle/Saale (MMZ), Germany.
