Double world champion Tai Woffinden insisted “there’s a lot more to come from me” after racing to his second win in three years at Warsaw’s sold-out PGE Narodowy on Saturday. The Great Britain racer topped the BOLL Warsaw FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland podium ahead of home hero Maciej Janowski and last year’s winner Fredrik Lindgren, with Artem Laguta finishing fourth on his first SGP appearance since 2011.

4K live production rental specialist ES Broadcast Hire has taken delivery of the first Canon CJ45ex9.7B 4K lenses in Europe – and the lenses will immediately be put into use at the forthcoming Monaco F1 Grand Prix, which takes place 24-27 May.

HDwireless is now offering 4k wireless camera systems. This means that customer requirements for high-frequency video transmission in native 4k resolution can be met during broadcasts, events, and trade fairs. The new HDwireless HCAM system uses, among other things, the Grass Valley LDX 86N/C86N camera head and cameras from Sony, Ikegami and Panasonic, which offers a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels using Canon 4k optics. The RF transmitter encodes in H265 (HEVC) and is compatible with 3G/6G/12G SDI as well as SDI/HD SDI formats.

There are two parts of NAB – showcasing the tools for telling great video stories and, in recent years, addressing the challenge of figuring out how to distribute/monetize those stories. Since the pre– through post–production equipment, products, tools and services are where all the magic takes place by shooters, audio and video editors, colorists and other skilled specialists; we'll look at what was most exciting/promising here first. At the 2018 NAB Show EVS introduced the latest live production server into its iconic XT range – XT-VIA. Having led the live replay market for two decades, the new server represents the most significant update to the XT series yet. XT-VIA lets facilities providers and content creators benefit from enhanced UHD-4K and IP operation as well as an integration with VIA - EVS’ new technology platform of modular services and workflow engines.

NEP Sweden is installing MediorNet on board its all-new UHD/4K OB van, UHD 1, to provide a decentralized and redundant communications and signal routing backbone for coverage of a broad range of high-profile live productions.

AJA Video Systems revealed the new IPR-10G-HDMI Mini-Converter, which converts SMPTE ST 2110 IP video/audio to HDMI. This new Mini-Converter allows broadcast, production, post and ProAV professionals to output SMPTE ST 2110 video/audio to HDMI monitors. AJA also introduced SMPTE ST 2110 support for its KONA IP via free Desktop Software v14.2.

After extensive research and testing of various encoding solutions, Bern-based telecommunications service provider, Swisscom, has selected Rohde & Schwarz to provide ultra high definition (UHD) encoding facilities for the upcoming Russia 2018 soccer championship.  

NAB2018 (National Association of Broadcasters) convention will see the continued expansion of the FUJINON 4K HDR lens range from the Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM. Fujifilm made the Development Announcement on Tuesday, March 27 in Japan of the company’s latest Premier UA Series of UHD 2/3” lenses, the UA46x9.5B and UA46x13.5B. A prototype will be shown at the Fujifilm booth (#C7225). NAB2018 will be held from April 9-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
