Element Technica, leading designer and manufacturer of 3D rigs designed to mount digital camera and lens pairs stereoscopically, announces that its Technica 3D Neutron rig, mounted with Silicon Imaging SI-2K cameras, can now be enclosed in the purpose-built Neutron BORG 3D underwater housing system from HydroFlex. The underwater 3D camera system incorporates a Cinedeck recorder inside the housing.

It is ready for the future, innovative and equipped for (amongst other things) business to business productions, internet productions and streaming, smaller sporting events and screen recordings with a smaller crew.

Hilversum-based video systems specialist United has chosen Leader's LV5490 as the test and measurement core of a 4K ultra-high-definition flyaway production system for Amazon Prime's new motoring television series, The Grand Tour. The show reunites presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. An initial 36 episodes are being produced for release on Amazon Prime. The LV5490 was purchased via Leader's channel partner Fofic BV, based at Diemen near Amsterdam.

On Saturday 6th July this year, United undertook the recording of Muse’s concert at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Following Coldplay and Andrea Bocelli’s concerts in 2012, this year United was asked to record the video and audio for Muse’s concert in a unique manner. A dual workflow was developed for the concert, which on one hand worked in HD 1080 25Psf for Blue Ray, and on the other, recorded a complete 4K programme for a possible cinema release. All this, in the highest quality, with digital film cameras and lenses in a multiple camera situation. United managed to break new ground.

In July, the British band Muse gave a concert in Rome’s Olympic Stadium. The audience of over 50,000 enjoyed a superlative show, as the live recording of the event – DVD and Blu-ray discs are currently in production – will shortly testify. The task of capturing the concert-going experience as vividly and authentically as possible was assigned to the Hilversum-based media full service and broadcast specialist United, as the company – part of the Euro Media Group (EMG) – had already established a tremendous reputation in the field with its spectacular live recordings of acts like Coldplay and Andrea Bocelli.

This Autumn, online streaming service Amazon Prime will be introducing its new car show, 'The Grand Tour'. As an expert in the field of 4K, United was asked to take care of technical solutions for the show worldwide. United has built a custom flypack for this assignment, giving the show its first novelty. This mobile set includes a specially developed record rack to process the volume of data in real time.

“The Realm” has certainly caught the eyes - behind polarized glasses - of audiences who experienced its April 20 debut at the University of Alabama. Dept. of Theatre and Dance faculty member John Virciglio created The Realm, a theatrical dance performance using stereoscopic 3D to create a virtual environment for live performers in real time. The 3-D elements came from 12 High End Systems DL.3 digital lighting fixtures, controlled with a Road Hog Full Boar. Mainlight Industries supplied The Realm with the DL.3 fixtures.

Set to be released at the end of February 2018, the Version 6 firmware upgrade sees the camera gain a new shading mode alongside tally and return video management. Full control of the cameras is also possible from Panasonic’s AK-HRP1000 remote control panel.

At the 2011 NAB Show, Utah Scientific (booth N4511) and Sisvel Technology (booth N4618) will be demonstrating a new form of 3D broadcasting that is fully compatible with 2D television displays, allowing 3D and 2D viewing of a single broadcast stream. This is made possible by 3D Tile Format, an innovative technique for formatting stereoscopic images that integrates two 720p frames within a single 1080p frame. The reconstructed right and left images maintain their original 720p spatial and temporal resolution, giving viewers of both versions the full benefit of the original picture.

Video Equipment Rentals (“VER”), a leading, global  provider of production equipment and engineering support, today announced it has ordered 50 Sony HDC-4300 camera systems. Sony’s HDC-4300 is the world’s first camera to use three 2/3-inch native 4K image sensors. The new camera – the next generation of HDC series camera technology – lets operators use the vast array of 2/3-inch ENG and high magnification and long zoom range box lenses currently used by HD 2/3-inch systems while maintaining an angle of view and depth of field that sports producers are accustomed to. The system allows the capture of premium 4K or HD images, as well as up to 8x high frame rate.
 

The Viasat Ultra HD channel will be launched after the summer in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland via an SES-5 satellite operating at 5 degrees East.
