On 14 July 1789, troops stormed the Bastille in Paris during the French Revolution. Just one year later, the first Fête de la Fédération was held to celebrate the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in France, following the inspiration of a French textile worker, who presented his design for a festival celebrating the Bastille’s storming. Now formally La Fête Nationale, the tradition continues each year with parades, music and firework displays. More recently, German broadcast innovator Lawo has become an integral part of the celebration.

The Eiffel Tower celebrated its 130^th Anniversary on May 15^th and marked the occasion with a spectacular son et lumière atop the Iron Lady with 60 Elation Proteus Hybrid™ luminaires used in an extraordinary double helix design. The weatherproof Proteus moving heads played an integral part in the sound and light show and were supplied for the event by technical solutions provider Magnum, who has been involved in over 95% of Eiffel Tower events since 2004.

And whether the content is delivered through a fiber cable or magically through the air it's still TV and fortunately for people in the creation industry folks seem to have an insatiable entertainment appetite of their TV stuff.

Olympic House, the new headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has received three of the most rigorous sustainable building certifications. It has therefore become one of the most sustainable buildings in the world.  One of the three certifications is LEED Platinum, the highest certification level of the international LEED green building programme. According to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the organisation that developed LEED, Olympic House has received the most points (93) of any LEED v4-certified new construction project to date.
