Echo Awards hits the high notes thanks to Sennheiser
Rihanna, Sade and Peter Maffay were just some of the artists who took to the stage for the 2010 Echo Awards at the Palais am Funkturm in Berlin in March. The 22-year old Barbados-born singer stole this year’s show with a performance of her latest single Rude Boy, her first on German television, alongside two giant animatronic robots. Pop newcomer Ke$ha treated the audience to a raucous rendition of her recent number one hit Tik Tok while Sade performed Soldier of Love from her new album. At the heart of the 2010 awards, making sure all the performances wowed the crowd, were Sennheiser’s microphones and monitoring equipment.

AMWA and EBU issue FIMS’ Request for Technology
The Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are co-publishing a Request For Technology (RFT) as the result of joint activities in the FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Service) Task Force. The Task Force has been created to address issues around interoperability in digital workflows. The joint effort between the EBU and the AMWA to seek out a common approach to integrate hardware and software components in modern TV production facilities is believed to be a fundamental need of the whole media industry.

SIS LIVE, one of Europe’s largest outside broadcast (OB) and uplink supplier, has unveiled its latest new-generation, super-sized outside broadcast vehicle, OB 1. The 24-camera, 14.6m x 5.65m truck is the largest OB vehicle in the UK. The state-of-the-art production unit is fully high definition (HD) throughout and 3G capable. Its first job was to cover Match of the Day for BBC Sport and it is now moving on to two more very big BBC broadcast events, the Boat Race and extended coverage of the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National from Aintree on 10th April.
