From mid-June 2023, the MMC Studios in Cologne were fully utilized for recording the eighth season of "Ninja Warrior Germany," a format originally from Japan, where participants complete an obstacle course against time, requiring strength, endurance, and agility.

Following a restructuring of the "ARD-Mittagsmagazin", Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk MDR has been responsible for the program's extended program on a weekly basis with ZDF since the beginning of the year. The new Studio 1 went into operation on May 27, 2024. The television broadcasting operations of Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Radio Bremen were relocated to MDR in Leipzig at the end of April 2024.
