Presented by the German Football Association’s Cultural Foundation, the ninth edition of 11mm, the International Football Film Festival from Berlin, begins on March 9th 2012 with a world premiere: Sepp Maier, former German national goalkeeper and World Cup winner, opens his private archive over two decades after Germany’s victory at the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Until this moment the videos shot by Sepp Maier during the tournament have only been seen by a select group of national team players and German Football Association officials.

11th Media Diamant for ‘broadcast innovator’ Martijn Swart

On June 6, ‘broadcast innovator’ Martijn Swart (43) will be awarded a Media Diamant (Media Diamond), the widely appreciated Dutch award and recognition for employees behind the scenes of television, radio and online media who excel in talent, dedication, passion and craftsmanship. Martijn was surprised by Dutch F1 commentators Olav Mol and Jack Plooij after the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. As co-owner of Broadcast Rental, Martijn is closely involved in the live connections that the company provides around Formula One. Totally surprised, Martijn received a letter from Olav Mol from Mayor Mr Pieter Broertjes of Hilversum with the message that he will be awarded this honourable prize.

130 EVS Servers Deployed for Live Replay Operations at the 2010 Asian Games

Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (GAB), the 2010 Asian Games host broadcaster will use EVS systems for its live operations, including multi-camera recording, live replays and highlight editing at various venues of the event. Production teams, including 22 Chinese TV stations, will use a total of 130 EVS SD/HD servers and their live production controllers to cover the Games, which will be held in Guangzhou, China, from November 12 to 27, 2010.

With 20 days to go to the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the IBC welcomed a Media Delegation, includ­ing some 120 journalists, as part of a tour of its major facilities on 21 May. During a three-hour event, the at­tendees were given an extensive tour of the premises and listened to detailed explanations about the role of the IBC in the broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Four major stops were made during the tour, including the Aggreko Generator Park, the IT Command Centre (ITCC), the African Plaza, and the Master Control Room (MCR).
