Friday afternoon on a livestream broadcast, IBC presented its highest award to the news organisations of the world. This is the first time in its history that it has recognised an entity rather than a single individual or organisation. The IBC2020 International Honour for Excellence acknowledged the critical role news broadcasters have played in continuing to inform and educate audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Coronavirus pandemic may have dominated 2020’s news cycles, but the US Presidential election was a close second in terms of coverage, with news channels in the USA and around the world following the build up to election day and the controversial aftermath. Now that the election has been decided, the team at Rocket Surgery, Ross Video’s in-house creative services division, can pause and reflect on their work during the campaign.

Close to 200,000 flags on the National Mall in Washington D.C. were lit by lighting designer Chris Lisle during the recent Presidential Inauguration, many using LED luminaires from Elation Professional. Field of Flags, an art display representing the people who were unable to attend the event due to the coronavirus pandemic, made for a spectacular sight and powerful message of unity.

Having 10 years of experience planning and executing corporate and political events, Creative Sound & Lighting was the perfect candidate to provide AV support for the recent 2021 Presidential Inaugural Parade. Celebrating the election of the 46^th president of the United States, the main communication goal for the parade was to be able to wrangle five different communication systems into one manageable system for the on-site producer and show caller. With these needs in mind, Creative Sound & Lighting turned to Pliant Technologies’ CrewCom to provide clear communication for the event.

Held in Abu Dhabi on 2 December each year, the UAE National Day is the most prestigious event in the region’s calendar, bestowing pride and promoting strength in community amongst its loyal people.

Installed for China’s Consumer Rights Day Gala, a giant, 1000 square meter LED wall dazzled viewers with incredible graphics, all powered by Pixotope, the leading mixed reality solution for live media production. Broadcast live on March 15th 2021, the two-hour slot was dedicated to informing consumers of consumer habits and business practices from major brands. Great Wheel, a production company working within CCTV, designed and implemented the live graphics using Pixtope’s engine.
