SIS LIVE, Europe’s largest outside broadcast (OB) and uplink supplier, provided 70 satellite uplink vehicles to the main UK broadcasters for their coverage of the UK General Election 2010 coverage. Uplink vehicles and SIS LIVE crew were deployed throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, giving the broadcasters unprecedented coverage of the main electoral battlegrounds. SIS Live at Dambusters 70th Anniversary

On 16th May outside broadcast and uplink specialist SIS LIVE supported the BBC in the creation of a special programme which paid tribute to the famous Dambuster’s raid which happened exactly 70 years previously. The same night in 1943 saw the launch of 19 Lancaster Bomber aircraft as part of Operation Chastise. This daring undertaking saw the first wartime deployment of the innovative bouncing bomb named ‘Upkeep’ which aimed to destroy German dams and hence flood the industrial heart of Nazi territory.

When the Indian Ocean tsunami devastated Southeast Asia in 2004, rap-rockers Linkin Park endeavored to leverage their international fanbase to assist. Shortly thereafter, they founded Music for Relief: a charity that helps artists and fans connect to provide relief for natural disasters around the world. The organization’s vital mission is to mitigate and prevent the damaging effects of these disasters through environmental initiatives including forest preservation and tree planting. Linkin Park has remained instrumental in raising funds for Music for Relief, and recently worked with Sennheiser to provide several SKM 2000 wireless handheld transmitters with MME 865-1 capsules for an auction fundraiser – including some autographed by the band.

Ross Makes Georgian Election Coverage a Reality

To cover the groundbreaking elections in October, Georgian Public Broadcaster - the national public broadcaster - installed a virtual studio with augmented reality graphics.  To make their production a reality, GPB used Ross Video, a solutions provider for augmented reality and virtual sets.  The Ross solution includes a CrossOver Compact Production Switcher, openGear Terminal Equipment, Furio Robotic Camera System, and XPression Real-Time Motion Graphics combined with UnReel’s Xperience UX Software.  Ross partner, Dutchview Prographics, developed the election graphics and helped with the implementation.
