Fujifilm is at the forefront in the development of 4K UHD optical technology. Since the emergence of two-third inch (2/3”) broadcast cameras and subsequent technology transformation which was initiated by the launch of Sony’s 4K 2/3” HDC camera series, other camera manufactures soon followed this trend (Grass Valley, Panasonic, Ikegami and Hitachi etc.). We believe that it is safe to state that this is not just a trend, as was witnessed a few years back with the introduction of 3D broadcast technologies. The demand for 4K Ultra High Definition production acquisition, workflow and transmission technology has thus increased since the first live trail productions back in 2014 (FIFA World Cup). Since then we have seen a substantial surge in 4K UHD live productions, especially in the past twelve months, which to some extent can also be contributed to the increased proliferation of 4K UHD TV sets in private households and resulting demand for more 4K UHD content.

Introduction
Next to its broadcasting centre in Stuttgart, SWR built a new television studio complex with four production studios as a substitute for the “Villa Berg” studios, in operation since 1964. The new studios were completed in late 2011.

BBC Sport’s host coverage of The Wimbledon Championships continued in 2013, maintaining its tradition of delivering high quality, compelling and professionally produced television. The entire event was captured and broadcast again in high definition, with SIS LIVE providing technical facilities to BBC Sport and the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) throughout the two week event.

Panasonic has supplied the TV broadcaster RTS with a professional system of studio cameras which consists of 30 sets of AK-HC5000GSJ cameras, with Camera Control Unit AKUCU500ESJ, Remote Control Panel AK-HRP1000GJ and two models of viewfinders AK-HVF70GJ and AG-CVF15G.

RTL Televizija, the Croatian television channel, decided to implement the tapelessdistribution system in their workflow. From January 2010, the distribution to and from the channel will be done via Movie2Me. Withthe integration of tapeless distribution, RTL Televizija completes its digital workflow,definitively giving up the tape.

As the reality show Big Brother enters its 14th season on the CBS television network, RealNetworks once again relies on iStreamPlanet to provide multi-camera, 24/7, live streaming from the Big Brother house to subscribers of its SuperPass service.
