Sony Professional Solutions Europe has signed an important agreement with RAI (Radiotelevisione Italiana — Italy's national public broadcasting company) for the further supply of over 300 pieces of equipment from the XDCAM line, which includes: shoulder-mount camcorders — PDW-680 Series, studio decks — PDW-HD1200 Series, editing drives — PDW-U2 Series and XDCAM stations — XDS-PD1000/2000 Series. With this latest acquisition, RAI now has over 1000 units of XDCAM equipment with disc technology.

On June 6, ‘broadcast innovator’ Martijn Swart (43) will be awarded a Media Diamant (Media Diamond), the widely appreciated Dutch award and recognition for employees behind the scenes of television, radio and online media who excel in talent, dedication, passion and craftsmanship. Martijn was surprised by Dutch F1 commentators Olav Mol and Jack Plooij after the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. As co-owner of Broadcast Rental, Martijn is closely involved in the live connections that the company provides around Formula One. Totally surprised, Martijn received a letter from Olav Mol from Mayor Mr Pieter Broertjes of Hilversum with the message that he will be awarded this honourable prize.

Italy-based RAI and Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec have signed a framework agreement for 18 AURUS Platinum mixing consoles and NEXUS for a total of 3.5 million Euros for 3 years. Stage Tec and PR.IN.CO., the Italian distributor, announced the deal at IBC in Amsterdam. The contract is the result of an international tender which Stage Tec succeeded in winning. Over the next three years, RAI will receive 8 large AURUS 48 fader consoles and 10 consoles with 40 faders. Each console is complemented with a NEXUS STAR router. The mixing consoles' audio DSP power is standardised at RAI and includes the new Platinum DSP.
