Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec has upgraded two of Flemish broadcaster VRT’s OB trucks with powerful RMDQ audio DSP units. The HD01 and HD02 OB vans were each equipped with six DSP boards in their NEXUS STAR routers. With them, the OB trucks are now ready for all production requirements. For example, depending on the configuration, 44 mix buses and more than 500 audio channels are available. The AURUS consoles, which have been installed in the OB vans for eight years, can now benefit from new features such as the automixer, M/S decoder, internal tone generator, and the VCA hierarchy, etc.

The recipient of the 2016 EBU Award for Technology & Innovation, the VRT Sandbox LiveIP Studio,  has launched a new age of convenience and flexibility in professional television programme production. In the future, the award will be given annually, based on an evaluation of factors such as impact and innovation.

VRT (Flemish Radio and Television Broadcasting Organisation), the national public-service radio and television broadcaster for the Flemish Community of Belgium, have recently used the Quicklink Studio (ST55) solution for coverage of VRT’s annual charity fundraiser De Warmste Week (The Warmest Week).

Modernisation work at the Sachsen MDR broadcasting centre in Dresden has included a complete update of the control room and video editing suite with installation of the VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) as new control system. With the advent of high definition broadcasting (HD) at MDR it was necessary for its regional broadcasting facilities to switch to the production of HD signals.

Fox Sports playout facility goes live controlled by VSM which is housed in a brand new facility in the Media Park Hilversum. From the start Fox will playout and manage six channels of HD playout, 9 online channels with the capacity for future expansion. Fox Sports is the largest premium TV channel in Holland with live sports coverage of Eredivisie & Jupiler League, Barclays Premier League, ATP tennis tournaments & Wimbledon, NFL, MLB and Formula E.

Dutch multicam specialist United just unveiled their brand new 8-camera truck OB 16, which is equipped with numerous clever novelties and innovations. As overall control system the Dutch company chose L-S-B’s VSM System (Virtual Studio Manager).

L-S-B Broadcast Technologies GmbH will be a guest of Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) on Thursday 20 January 2011. From 10.00 onwards, the German software company will be presenting a non-proprietary intercom control system and further innovations relating to its VSM control system on stand 3.26 at the MCI Hamburg Open 2011. Lawo, manufacturer of the world-leading Broadcast Control and Monitoring System VSM (Virtual Studio Manager), has announced VSM Release 16.1. VSM is an IP-based Broadcast Control System, used in the most demanding production setups around the world. Available immediately, the release brings several new features, changes and bug fixes, including changes and updates to several VSM modules, as well as performance enhancements.

The first transmission from the new ARD “Tagesschau” studio (Germany’s most prominent news program) took place April 2014 after conversion and modernisation work that had taken a number of months. The new studio sets new standards in audio-visual communication of information – with the most impressive feature being the 18 metre wide back projection wall onto which video material can be projected in real time during the programmes. This modernisation also included converting the whole production to HD quality.

Broadcast service supplier TV Skyline uses L-S-B’s VSM Broadcast Control and Monitoring System in its new OB 7 HD. With new workflow and design concepts, the OB7 HD sets a new standard in the field of outdoor trucks. OB 7 has three separate control rooms and offers room for 32 workplaces for people to work. Furthermore the van doubles the number of operator positions in comparison to other TV Skyline vans. As the essential control and monitoring tool VSM is implemented in the new flagship of the German-based company.

TSL Television Systems Limited decided in favour of the VSM control system manufactured by L-S-B Broadcast Technologies GmbH for the large-scale project MediaCityUK. The British company has been commissioned by Peel Media with the conception of the technical equipment and the system integration of the extensive studio complex in Manchester. From the mid-May five departments of the BBC are to move to the new £650 million site and start producing content. The Virtual Studio Manager (VSM) integrates the major components in the designated studios such as vision mixers, multiviewers, intercom systems as well as control-, audio- and video routers. In addition the VSM provides interfaces connecting the umbrella control system seamlessly with the TSL UMD and tally system.
