Phantom of the Opera has been an international phenomenon for more than 30 years. Now, the French concert version of the hit musical has debuted in Montreal and Quebec City where lighting designer Jean-Francois Couture, of Montreal’s La Boîte à Lumière, utilized grandMA3 full-size console for lighting control. 

Recently the Zac Brown Band launched their “Jekyll + Hide” North American Stadium Tour presented by BAI. Production designers Louis Oliver and James Scott from Okulus worked with Special Event Services (SES) that provided grandMA2 full-size and grandMA2 light consoles. With offices in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee, SES is marking its 28th year offering full production services, audio, video and lighting equipment. It has been providing lighting for Zac Brown Band for more than five years.

grandMA2 consoles proved to be country strong when they turned out in force for the 2013 CMT Music Awards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Lighting designer Tom Kenny used 6 x grandMA2 full-size for the gala special, which was hosted by Kristen Bell and Jason Aldean.

grandMA2 was the control platform of choice for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the recent South East Asia (SEA) Games, staged in Singapore at the New Singapore National Stadium.

The grandMA family of consoles demonstrated their versatility when lighting designer Tom Halpain selected them for multi-Grammy Award-winning Harry Connick Jr.’s current US tour which included a sold out 15-performance Broadway concert engagement, his first in 20 years.

Having already created hit songs for Jake Owen, Rascal Flatts, and the Eli Young Band, Eric Paslay has become an artist in his own right, having embarked on his first headlining tour “Make Every Night a Friday Night”. With performances scheduled throughout the United States, tour manager Steve Bryan and lighting designer Mike Marcario wanted to give fans of the soulful Texan a truly unique concert experience. To do so, they would have to rely upon a tour provider who could offer the best lighting gear and support to make it happen, and they found that relationship in Elite Multimedia.

"Dare to Dream" was the slogan of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, won by the Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence and with lighting design by Ronen Najar and Dakar Azulay. Within the lighting rig were an unmissable 406 Claypaky fixtures, including the brand new Axcor 600 and Sharpy Plus, along with the timeless Sharpy Wash and Scenius Unico. Osram was once again the official lighting partner for the contest, which will next take place in the Netherlands in 2020.

With the slogan “Autokultur – from Hannover for Hannover”, an unusual series of events is helping to keep the entertainment scene in Northern Germany buzzing. Every evening, up to a thousand vehicles converge on Hannover’s Schützenplatz fairground, where they tune in their UHF radios – just like in a drive-in cinema – to listen to exciting stage performances, from concerts to comedy. It’s all a welcome distraction from life during lockdown, and an optimistic ray of light in a time when typical live events have all been cancelled.

Florida Georgia Line has begun their “Anything Goes” 2015 world tour, in support of their latest album, with a large complement of Clay Paky lighting fixtures.

Robe moving lights were right at the heart of the action at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival and particularly at The Pleasance, where 46 fixtures – a mix of Pointes, 600E Spots, MMX Spots, MMX WashBeams, MMX Blades and LEDWash 600s - were dotted around the larger of the 23 pop-up full-on venues operated by The Pleasance for the duration of the Festival.

Internationally renowned production manager Ola Melzig - Head of Production for Eurovision 2017 - is set to host the glamorous tenth anniversary edition of the Knight of Illumination Awards. The prestigious ceremony will be held on the 17th of September at one of London’s most iconic live entertainment venues, the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

“Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar” (HNMPL - Today I Can’t Get Up) is a hugely successful Spanish ‘jukebox musical’ from Drive Productions telling the story of two struggling young musicians surviving in Madrid against a backdrop of drugs, AIDS and other social phenomena and chaos in the 1980s and immediate aftermath of Franco’s collapsed fascist regime.

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ opened in London 19 November at the Noel Coward Theatre with video projection comprising the shows entire stage scenery. Supplied by Stage Sound Services, three disguise vx 4 and four gx 1 servers powered projections for the show, highlighting the huge impact of social media on daily life and create an immersive social media environment on stage for the actors.

Remote Recording Network (RRN), Riedel Communications, TV Skyline, The Black Project, and 13 other partners collaborated in the production of a landmark virtual live event on Nov. 22-23 that brought together teams working remotely across four countries and three continents. Headed by Peter Brandt, CEO of RRN, the show represented the first-ever fully decentralized production of a live, global music event.
