Described in 2003 by Time magazine as the ‘New King of Asian Pop’, Jay Chou has turned his signature sound - which fuses traditional instruments and styles with R&B or rock - into a global phenomenon. In late 2019, Chou’s record label JVR Music promoted the spectacular Carnival world tour to celebrate the artist’s 20th year in the entertainment industry. A Yamaha RIVAGE PM10 digital mixing system was chosen to mix the performers’ monitors.  
 

The Afterlife series of worldwide electronic music festivals arrived in Dubai, UAE for the first time in February at the Hangar 4 industrial warehouse event space. Lighting Designer Pascal Bach of VEM Visionemotion GmbH utilized 100 Claypaky Sharpy fixtures to deliver the evening’s signature Afterlife look within the monumental space.

“Play It Forward” an incendiary new live show by South African rockers Oooth – well known for their love of high production values and visual stage presentations – was part of a dynamic live stream designed as a fundraiser for tattoo artists across the country and freelance technicians via #FeedOurCrew who have been left high and dry and without any income during the Covid-19 lockdown. The broadcast – on YouTube and Facebook Live – also included interviews, features and panel discussions, and was staged at leading SA rental company MGG’s Studio B facility, one of two such facilities at their HQ in Johannesburg, complete with a full Robe lighting rig.

Garth Brooks returned to the stage in true spectacular fashion, as only Garth can, in a coordinated live concert at over 300 drive-in theaters across North America. Nothing like this had ever been seen before, and Bandit Lites provided the lighting for the special event, where more than 350,000 fans were entertained while safe in their own vehicles.

When The Wharf entertainment district in Orange Beach, Alabama, reopened in time for Memorial Day, visitors were treated to a spectacular, new lightshow by Cue 13 Design that uses Elation’s popular IP65 luminaires to delight guests while supporting retail vendors as they relaunch their economies.

This past Memorial Day weekend, rental company Main Light Industries sponsored “Illuminate Delaware,” a four-day event in which landmarks in Wilmington and around the state were illuminated as a tribute to essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as fallen U.S. military personnel.
 

Tour promoter Live Nation has announced its first-ever drive-in concerts series in the U.S. for July, months after the live music industry has been on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. The entertainment company on Monday announced "Live from the Drive-In" — a set of nine shows to take place July 10-12 in Nashville, Tennessee; Maryland Heights, Missouri; and Noblesville, Indiana. Grammy-winning singer Brad Paisley will headline shows in all three cities, while fellow country artists Darius Rucker and Jon Pardi will also perform in Nashville at Nissan Stadium. Nelly will perform in Maryland Heights, near St. Louis.

Industrial Sessions, a new live streaming and recording studio in Queenstown, New Zealand, has equipped its space with Claypaky HY B-EYE K15 and Mythos 2 fixtures.  The studio marks a collaboration among TomTom Productions for lighting, video and set design, Soundpeople for audio and multi-track recording, and Shotover Media for camera and direction.  It is located in the TomTom Productions warehouse.
 

Blackmagic Design today announced that its Pocket Cinema Camera 6K and URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 cameras, Blackmagic Web Presenters and more were used to stream SHEIN Together, a virtual showcase that combined music with beauty and fashion to benefit COVID-19 relief. Streamed exclusively on the SHEIN app to 1.6 million viewers, the event featured musical performances by Katy Perry, Lil Nas X, Rita Ora and Doja Cat, as well as appearances by Hailey Beiber, Madeline Petsch, Tyler Cameron and more.

The recent Rock of Ages Revival at New World Stages in New York City was a resounding success, just as it was in its 2008 Off-Broadway debut at the same theatre prior to its successful 6-year Broadway run. The Revival show opened last June and after originally being scheduled to close in September was extended for an open-ended run, eventually shutting down when Broadway went dark in March.

3zero2 Studios. Based in Milan, Italy, Infront Centro Produzione (ICP) operates 5
studios in which are produced emblematic sports and entertainment shows (such
as “X-Factor”, “Italia’s got talent”, “Hell’s kitchen” and “Masterchef”) for major
Italian and European clients in the media industry like Mediaset, Sky, Fremantle,
Discovery and Serie A League.

The coronavirus pandemic didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm for the 2020 final of singing competition The Voice Ukraine, which was broadcast live from the Kyiv studios of TV channel 1+1, produced by Volodymyr Zavaduyk, directed by Tri.Direction and lit by Eugene Kostyra, also working closely with DoP Sergey Petrov. To create an original and spectacular lighting design for this socially distanced television event, Eugene utilised Robe MegaPointes and Spikies as a key part of his lighting rig which were supplied, along with all the other lighting equipment, by Ukraine’s largest rental & production company, Alight.
