Legendary 80s rock group Indochine wrapped up their “Meteor Tour” at the Palais Omnisport de Bercy in Paris on 14th and 15th September, 2010. The band, whose 30-year career continues to draw not only fans from their earliest days but also the children of those fans, played 62 dates on the tour, attracting some 800,000 concert-goers.

PBS’ “Antiques Roadshow” Goes Tapeless with AJA Ki Pro

AJA Video Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, announced that eight-time Emmy Award-nominated PBS television series “Antiques Roadshow” used 11 of its Ki Pro tapeless recording devices to capture Season 15 of the series, which premieres January 3, 2011. Conan Gets Two Studer Vista 9 Digital Consoles For Audio Mixing

Conan, the new late-night talk, music and entertainment show hosted by award-winning comedic talent Conan O’Brien showcases O’Brien’s tremendous versatility as a performer as well as his eclectic tastes in musical guest artists--not to mention his all-star house band led by guitarist Jimmy “V” Vivino. To handle that kind of performance diversity, Conan needed mix consoles for both music and production dialog that could keep up with the fast timing and quick turns of the show, and that’s exactly what the two Studer Vista 9 digital consoles specifically installed for the program at the Warner Bros Studio Facilities’ Stage 15, in Burbank, California provide. Studer Vista 9 consoles are used in both the Music Mix control room and in the Production Audio mix control room, both of which were designed and equipped by Sound Design Corporation.

A grandMA2 full-size console was chosen by LD Mauritz Jacobs to control all lighting for the 2010 Final of Miss South Africa, staged at Sun City Superbowl. Lighting equipment for the all-action, high-energy show - also a live MNET telecast - was supplied by Johannesburg Dream Sets, who purchased their grandMA2 from MA’s South African distributor DWR earlier in the year. They were one of the first companies in South Africa to run the new grandMA2 with the latest software version.

"ABBA - The Concert performed by AbbAgain" is a live reconstruction of the legendary 1979 Abba performance at Wembley featuring more than 13 musicians and 150 minutes of Abba songs. The current Kings of Leon world tour features another innovative design by LD Paul Normandale with all lighting controlled by a grandMA full-size console. Normandale specified the grandMA - as he does on many of his shows - for its stability and reliability. The lighting is being operated and looked after on the road by director Ali Bale - using a grandMA for the first time. Another grandMA light is being supplied by XL Video to run the Catalyst media server playing back video content.

Customers of AJA Video Systems keep finding new ways to use its Ki Pro tapeless recording device. Nyquest Ltd., a company specializing in producing concert footage, recently used the flexible device as an extremely cost-effective solution for converting 20 hours of HDCAM footage into the Apple ProRes format to enable immediate editing in Final Cut Pro. Nyquest discovered the Ki Pro after directing a 10-camera shoot of Alice Cooper live during his “Theatre of Death” tour date at London’s legendary Hammersmith Apollo.
