Lighting and video content for multiple LED surfaces at the 2010 Miss Universe Slovakia beauty pageant, staged in the SIBAMAC Arena, Bratislava, was controlled by 2 x grandMA full-size consoles, 6 x video stations with the MA VPU software (Video Processing Unit) and 6 x MA NSPs (Network Processing Units). The show – which regularly draws one of the highest annual ratings on Slovakian TV - was broadcast live on national STV1, and featured an enthusiastic audience of 5,000 people.

On April 15th, the world’s largest trade fair for film and television technology ended. For some people the journey back home from the NAB in Las Vegas took longer than expected – due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland which suspended the air traffic. However, the trip was worth it. Producers from all over the world presented their technological innovations which are designed to facilitate the work in the film industry and to open up new dimensions. Numerous of these new products can be seen for the first time in Germany at the cinec from 18th to 20th September.

Echo Awards hits the high notes thanks to Sennheiser

Rihanna, Sade and Peter Maffay were just some of the artists who took to the stage for the 2010 Echo Awards at the Palais am Funkturm in Berlin in March. The 22-year old Barbados-born singer stole this year’s show with a performance of her latest single Rude Boy, her first on German television, alongside two giant animatronic robots. Pop newcomer Ke$ha treated the audience to a raucous rendition of her recent number one hit Tik Tok while Sade performed Soldier of Love from her new album. At the heart of the 2010 awards, making sure all the performances wowed the crowd, were Sennheiser’s microphones and monitoring equipment.

A discussion with Donald Marinelli, Executive Producer of Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, will follow. The 2010 NAB Show takes place April 10-15, in Las Vegas.

The Robbie Williams Secret Gig in Cologne revealed versatility of MAYAH codecs

About a dozen of private radio stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland broadcasted the concert of Robbie Williams in Cologne live on 5th March 2010. Frankfurt-based Hit Radio FFH was in charge of the signal distribution and decided to use the fast and cost-effective solution with audio codecs over the available ISDN lines. Ten C1161 units have been supplied by MAYAH additionally to the station's own codecs for this event and were used to transmit the live audio with APT-X, MPEG-4 AAC, MPEG Layer 2 and Layer 3 (mp3) formats.
