With the Teatro Argentino de La Plata Argentina’s second most important lyric opera house was recently furnished with a grandMA2. The most important house, Teatro Colón, installed a grandMA2 system in 2010. Tchaikovsky’s opera “Eugene Onegin” was the first play of Teatro Argentino de La Plata to go with the grandMA2 ultra-light and premiered perfectly in front of an enthusiastic audience.

Only a few artists can claim a career spanning 25 years and still be relevant and Indonesian singer Ruth Sahanaya is just such an performer. When her 25th anniversary came to be celebrated, lighting designer Bernard Chew from Jakarta, was challenged with creating a lighting design for the landmark event, which he faced with a grandMA2 full-size control console on his side.

Recently the Dutch singer and songwriter Guus Meeuwis celebrated his 15th year as a singer and his 5th year of stadium concerts – so it was time for a big party.

His first time working as a video director, lighting man Robin Haddow has set himself some high hurdles in the way he manages the English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actress Ellie Goulding show for lighting designer Cate Carter. “There are multiple screens hanging at various heights all over the rig. I’m using a grandMA2 full-size to map the content to the screens. Having used lots of different desks I’d say it’s the perfect surface for the job”, Haddow reported.

Visuals designer Neil Trenell was using his grandMA2 full-size console and a grandMA2 light for backup to control video at London's legendary Roundhouse venue for the month long iTunes Festival, which ran for all of July.

In late May and early June, Dutch superstar Marco Borsato became the first artist to play five sold-out stadium shows at De Kuip, home of Feyenoord Rotterdam football club. A State Of Trance (also known as ASOT) is the title of a weekly radio show hosted by prominent trance DJ and producer Armin van Buuren. The success of the show has also spawned several live dance events around the world. The show is celebrated live each year in different locations around the globe with a lineup of the most exciting trance artists, and recently took place at Utrecht in the Netherlands. This year the show (A State of Trance 650 – New Horizons) will be staged in eight more cities ranging from Moscow to Buenos Aires.

Producing broadcast quality content at live events is becoming increasingly important, as the audience for these performances stretches far further than the lucky few who get tickets.
