Presteigne Charter has been contracted by SIS LIVE, Europe’s largest OB and uplink provider, to supply a flypack to facilitate eight of the Grand Prix races for the BBC’s F1 coverage. The races, consisting of Australia, Malaysia, China, Bahrain, Singapore, Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi provide many broadcasting challenges and with many of these races being back to back, this provides a logistical challenge of its own, moving the equipment from location to location.

Mediatec Broadcast, specialized in managing large scale events in sports and entertainment, has chosen EVS Instant Tapeless Technology for the production and broadcast of two premium sports channels in Norway. Mediatec Broadcast, which is part of the Mediatec Group, one of Europe’s leading corporations in live events and television productions, chose to work with EVS Instant Tapeless Technology to produce and broadcast Viasat Sport in Norway and the new Viasat Football. Viasat is owned by the Swedish media company Modern Times Group (MTG).

Bonhomme wins Red Bull Air Race World Championship title in Barcelona
Britain’s Paul Bonhomme won the 2009 Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday with a thrilling victory in the final race of the season in Barcelona in front of a record crowd of 800,000 spectators, holding off a ferocious challenge from defending champion Hannes Arch of Austria. Bonhomme had finished a heartbreaking second in both 2007 and 2008 but got the elusive first title with a sensational performance under pressure to clinch his first title with 67 championship points to Arch’s 60. Australia’s Matt Hall took 3rd place overall, the best result ever for a rookie, with 36 points.

Swim Cup Eindhoven 2009
Top level international and elite Dutch swimmers converged at the “Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium” in Eindhoven to compete for the Swim Cup 2009 from November 27th to 29th. The event was organised by Eiffel Swimmers PSV/NZE for the sixth consecutive year. On this particular occasion, the organisers of the Swim Cup, hosted by the legendary Dutch sprinter – Peter van den Hoogenband, turned back the clock to December 31st 2007.

The agreement includes the 2011 and 2013 FINA World Championships in addition to the 2010 and 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m).

EBU and FSA prolong their excellent cooperation
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU)* and the Finnish Skiing Association (FSA) have reached an agreement to prolong their cooperation with regard to the worldwide broadcast rights to the Nordic Skiing World Cups taking place in Finland for the next three seasons, from autumn 2010 to spring 2013. The contract includes Ski Jumping, Cross-Country and Nordic Combined World Cups in Kuusamo, Lahti and Kuopio, altogether 50 competitions during the term.

Camera Corps heads to Canada for Winter Games
Following a number of site-surveys and planning meetings during 2009, a 44-strong Camera Corps team heads to British Columbia in February to provide point-of-view cameras for the duration of the Winter Games. Two 40 metre tracking systems, nine sports dollies, over 60 robotic heads, 118 HD cameras, and a large inventory of lenses, controllers, interfaces and support equipment are being installed to cover events from Vancouver as well as the winter sports resorts of Whistler and Cypress Mountain.

The 2010 Winter Olympics will be the third Olympics hosted by Canada, and the first by the province of British Columbia. Previously, Canada was home to the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta.
