Intelsat S.A. ATEME and 4EVER Consortium Report First Year HEVC and Ultra High Definition Progress to Scientific Communities Paves the Way for Enhanced Video Experience.

ATEME announced today that RTVE, Spain’s public service broadcaster and largest audiovisual group in the country, broadcast the opera by Wagner “Parsifal” from Teatro Real on April 21, live in Ultra High Definition (UHD). The broadcast took place via HISPASAT satellite and terrestrial network, in partnership with ATEME, who provided the digital compression of the signal.

ATEME announced today that AB Groupe, France’s first independent broadcaster and one of the largest producers in the country with 16 television channels,  selected ATEME’s TITAN Live to broadcast its first native 4K-UHD premium channel. The channel, called Ultra Nature, has been available in France since May 19th and is dedicated to wildlife, discovery, travel and extreme sport.

Globo, the largest commercial TV network in Latin America, has launched the first 4K HDR VOD product in Brazil using ATEME TITAN solution. This new product is available on smart 4K and HDR TVs with Globo’s OTT multi-screen platform, Globo Play, and is also accessible on PCs, smartphones and tablets. The first content to benefit from UHD resolution and HDR technology is "Ligações perigosas" (also known as “Dangerous Liaisons”) and has been available to watch since July.

ATEME announced today that FRANSAT, the satellite TV bouquet of Eutelsat in France, broadcast the Vienna Opera ballet “Le Corsaire” live in Ultra High Definition (UHD) on April 2, in partnership with Arte channel.

ATEME announced today that its advanced video compression technology will be used for the VR near-live coverage in Ultra High Definition (UHD) of the upcoming Sunday’s ultimate football showdown between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, in partnership with Fox Sports and LiveLike. Altogether, they’re teaming up to offer a virtual and interactive lounge during the game that presents highlights from the game in near real-time via the Fox Sports VR app for iOS and Android devices. Thus, each viewer equipped with a VR handset can experience the game in the same way as if they were sitting in a VIP lounge in the stadium.

ATEME announced that TV Azteca, the Mexican multimedia conglomerate owned by Grupo Salinas, broadcast the football match between the Mexican national team and Paraguay on May 28, live in Ultra High Definition (UHD). The match was played in Atlanta, USA and the broadcast took place via satellite and terrestrial network, in partnership with ATEME, who provided the digital compression of the signal. The UHD signal was encoded at 20 Mbps, in HEVC Main10 profile and in real time using ATEME’s TITAN solution to power satellite and terrestrial delivery.

ATEME announced today that TF1 and M6, private national French television stations, selected ATEME to encode in 4K-UHD HEVC (H.265) eight of the football matches of a major European tournament taking place  later in the month. ATEME provided a complete video headend, which includes its encoder TITAN Live 4K, as well as all necessary resources that are required for a high-quality and fully secured service. The 4K-encoded matches will be available for Orange fibre customers via the New Livebox on any compatible TV.

TV4 Group, one of Scandinavia's largest and most active television networks, has selected ATG Broadcast to design and install a playout management and presentation facility for the network's new standard-definition channel Guld Norge (Norway Gold) plus a sports events channel capable of operating in 3D high-definition. The new facility is located at TV4's Stockholm headquarters. Based on the TV4 Guld model successfully established in Sweden, Guld Norge will provide Norwegian viewers with a wide range of programmes, including classic television drama.

Atomos, creator of award winning camera-mounted recorders and recording accessories presented the shipping version of the highly decorated 4K Shogun at IBC2014. The new Shogun is due to begin its first production run to be ready to ship to the reseller channel to meet pre-orders.
