JVC Professional Europe Ltd. is pleased to announce that Modern VideoFilm, a feature film and television post-production facility in Glendale, USA, used two JVC GD-463D10 46-inch 3D LCD HD monitors extensively during its digital intermediate (DI) work on Avatar.

Sony is adding the AVID® DNxHD® codec as a future hardware upgrade option to the F5 and F55 CineAlta 4K cameras. The DNxHD files will be stored in the easy-to-manage MXF OP-1a wrapper, and recorded on-board to Sony’s SxS PRO+ memory card format, which was specially designed to handle mission-critical production applications. Compared to competitive card formats, Sony’s SxS PRO+ cards are far less prone to file corruption due to their advanced design, robustness and sustained writing speeds of 187MB/s.

AVIWEST, a global provider of video contribution systems, today announced the launch of the DMNG HE4000, a new HEVC 4K video encoder designed to optimize the distribution of 4K content over unmanaged networks. Using the high-efficiency video encoder for contribution applications, broadcasters can deliver crystal-clear 4K, HD, or SD video content at low bit rates over IP networks, even in volatile network environments. AVIWEST will demonstrate the DMNG HE4000 at IBC2015, Sept. 11-15, at stand 2.A29 in Amsterdam, and the encoder is expected to ship in Q4 of 2015.

Netherlands-based AV conversion, processing and compliance recording specialist Axon Digital Design (Booth N3024) arrives at NAB on the back of the announcement of major growth in its global sales revenue. OB provider Timeline Television relied on Axon’s 4K Synapse processing and Cerebrum advanced monitoring and control system to deliver UK sports broadcaster BT Sport’s first live 4K match-day production earlier this month.
BT Sport and Timeline collaborated on the build of a bespoke OB vehicle with an innovative 4K production workflow featuring a number of technology firsts, including a new range of 4K signal processing and distribution tools from Axon. BT Sport launched Europe’s first live sports Ultra HD (4K) channel, BT Sport Ultra HD, in early August, with its first live broadcast being the FA Community Shield match at Wembley on August 2 between Chelsea and Arsenal.

Synapse, AXON’s modular interface and signal processing equipment, is enhanced with 3D functionality. The G3D100 is a 3Gb/s, HD and SD stereoscopic production and/or transmission tool. The unit is designed for situations where stereoscopic production with flip or mirror, monitoring in anaglyph, 3D transmission of stereoscopic into side by side, or side by side to anaglyph is required. It can be fed with a stereoscopic image (and a backup source). These sources are processed internally to provide multiple outputs.

Panasonic is set to launch its first 4K professional large display, when a 98” LED LCD starts shipping this month (November), with an 84” model released in January.
