This year we are introducing an amazing new 4.6K image sensor with 15 stops of dynamic range for URSA cameras, three whole new cameras, a massive update to DaVinci Resolve, and a whole range of 12G-SDI products for broadcast, post production and live production.

In total we are introducing 38 new products today so it’s very exciting! This does mean that this email update is quite long, however it’s easy to scroll through to the products you are interested in reading about!

Each of these products has been a major engineering development and we feel we have really innovated in technology, industrial design and the user experience in every single one!

Television progress continues. In the  late 1990s, the ITU defined the parameter values for HDTV and the 720p families. At its meeting in May 2012, ITU-R Working party 6C, the same group, made the leap forward to the parameter values for the next two generations of television formats.

4EVER-2 partners continue their studies on UHD-TV phase 2 and will present their latest research results at IBC2016. The aim is to improve audiovisual quality, as well as prove that these technologies are realistic.

The French 4EVER consortium, which is testing and developing technologies for Ultra-HD, says that it captured the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes) in the UHD Phase 2 format. UHD Phase 2 demands higher dynamic range in its image capture and high frame-rates.

At the 7th Annual Digital TV Summit in London (Dec. 6-7), it was clear that 3DTV is still a technology to be reckoned with. During a Keynote address entitled “Pioneering the small-screen 3D experience,” Tom Cosgrove, president of 3net — the joint venture between Discovery Communications, IMAX and Sony — predicted that one out of every two new TVs sold in the U.S. by 2014 would be 3D compatible. He also said that 3D would not replace HD, but that the two technologies would complement each other, as the new generation of sets can display both types of broadcasts.

DVB is pleased to announce that on February 17 at the 67th Meeting of the Steering Board, the DVB-3DTV specification was approved. The specification will be submitted immediately to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for formal standardisation. BlueBook A154 ‘Frame Compatible Plano-Stereoscopic 3DTV’, (DVB-3DTV) has been published and is available for downloading from the DVB website.

Miranda Technologies Inc. 3D Stereoscopic Rig manufacturer, 3DRigs.com, has announced the launch of their Pro Light 3D Stereoscopic camera rig.
