Panasonic announced it is establishing a European 3D Innovation Centre in Wiesbaden, Germany, to accelerate the development of its 3D business. Following the launch of its first 3D Innovation Centre in Japan in July 2010, Panasonic is now opening regional centres in both Europe from 1st October and North America from some point in the near future to support 3D partnerships, consumer demand and innovation in the regions.

3ality Digital, a world leader in advanced technologies to empower creative digital stereoscopic 3D (S3D) acquisition, was adding the new TS-5 to its range of beam-splitter mirror rigs at IBC. This brings the renowned 3ality Digital precision and control to a much lighter and smaller form factor, allowing super fast set-ups through the use of lightweight tripods as well as shoulder mounts and Steadicam 3D shooting.

At IBC 2010, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) was showcasing the latest developments to its open specification for broadcast 3D delivery, including a new software development kit (SDK) available free of charge at the Dolby booth. Demonstrations of the Axon G3D100 stereoscopic production and transmission module incorporating the open specification were also available.

RRsat Global Communications Network Ltd. (NASDAQ: RRST)and BT’s Media and Broadcast division collaborated to provide the technological expertise and network infrastructure behind a 3D music and dance spectacle beamed live from London to Tel Aviv beach last week. The free event was organized by one of RRsat’s major Israeli customers as a marketing initiative. The event was unique in providing interactions between the live audiences in London’s South Bank and Tel Aviv giving Tel Aviv a 3D perspective of the events unfolding in London.

At this year’s IBC show, Sony Professional is showcased different 3D workflow setups to demonstrate that each and every 3D project needs to have a tailored solution to ensure premium quality 3D acquisition and production.

EVS boosts the capabilities of its XT[2]+ production servers with new DualPower technology, offering four channel 3D (or 1080p) and 3D SuperMotion configurations. The enhanced capabilities will be available on all standard systems delivered from autumn 2010.

Miranda Technologies at IBC announced that it has licensed the stereoscopic RealD Format, from ReadD Inc, to broaden the conversion capabilities of its Densité 3DX-3901 stereoscopic 3D signal processor module.

At IBC Element Technica showed a pair of RED SCARLETs and a pair of RED EPICs mounted on Technica 3D rigs. The EPICs are mounted on the Technica 3D Pulsar rig, designed for mid-sized digital cameras. The Pulsar rig was making its world premiere at the 2010 IBC. The SCARLETs are mounted on the Neutron rig, the smallest rig in the Technica 3D series, which made its debut at the 2010 NAB, and is now being delivered.

Presteigne Charter, one of the world’s leading broadcast dry hire and systems rental specialists announced a major expansion of its 3D facilities, following the largest ever investment in Sony 3D production systems. Reputed for its early adoption of cutting edge formats, Presteigne Charter has scaled up its 3D production portfolio, with the addition of 13 Sony MPE-200s 3D Processor boxes, 10 HDC-1500R camera systems, as well as a mix of Sony HDC-P1 POV cameras, LMD-4251TD 3D LCDs and monitors and Sony MVS-8000x vision mixers.

Element Technica, designer of the leading family of 3D rigs for stereoscopically mounting cameras and lenses for television and motion picture 3D production, premiers its Pulsar 3D rig at the 2010 IBC exhibition. The Pulsar, which provides stereoscopic mounting of mid-sized high resolution digital cameras with ENG-style lenses, gives Element Technica a complete range of Technica 3D rigs for the largest to the smallest professional digital cameras.
