PHABRIX is pleased to announce it has recently concluded nine months of successful HDR technology trials with BT Sport. PHABRIX supported BT Sport, providing its Qx rasterizers and technical expertise, as they developed and refined their live production workflow for the launch of their new HDR, UHD and Dolby Atmos supported proposition, BT Sport Ultimate. This includes HDR on the BT Sport app for mobile devices.

ITV Studios, a television production company owned by the British television broadcaster ITV PLC, has invested in 21 Sony HDC-3500 system camera chains supplied by broadcast and film industry equipment provider, Top-Teks. The 2/3-inch 4K CMOS sensor portable system cameras will be used to shoot ‘Coronation Street’, ITV’s flagship soap that has graced screens for almost 60 years. The cameras were selected as part of ITV Studios’ latest camera refresh aimed towards future-proofing production by offering greater flexibility and picture quality.

Italian systems integration company Chromaline, which specializes in outside broadcast trucks, has built OBX, a flagship production unit for Videe. The revolutionary design, focused on creating a comfortable working environment for the biggest live events, depends upon core infrastructure products – including routing and multiviewers – from Imagine Communications.

Game Creek Video, a leading provider of state-of-the-art mobile production units for large-scale live events, has chosen an extensive offering of EVS solutions to support its full HDR capability, including UHD-4K and 1080p productions. The new solutions, anchored by EVS’ XT-VIA servers, have been deployed for the first time by FOX Sports at the start of the new college football season. Italian broadcast distributor and systems integrator Video Progetti today announced that it’s working on a third project with leading outside broadcast facilities company NVP. Video Progetti had previously delivered two outside broadcast trucks to NVP, and has now been asked to consult on a third in response to the rapidly increasing demand for its services that NVP is experiencing.

TVN MOBILE PRODUCTION, one of Europe's leading providers of mobile television services, has partnered with Sony Professional Solutions Europe to expand its Outside Broadcast (OB) fleet and meet new live production demands. In collaboration with partners and third-parties, Sony has designed and integrated Europe’s largest 4K HDR OB truck for TVN. The technically advanced vehicle will be used for high-quality UHD, HD and mixed productions. It features a workflow developed jointly by Sony and TVN and is optimised for all production formats and standards (both SDR and HDR).

Tria+ UHD provides two symmetrical 4K UHD video channels that can be instantly configured as 2-play, 2-record or 1-play and 1-record. Furthermore, the two independent video channels can be configured as a single video+key channel. Tria+ UHD supports HDR by natively recording 10-bit XAVC-Intra Class 300/480 and offers a maximum of 120 hours of Class 300 4K UHD media storage capacity. Tria+ UHD may be the newest member of the Tria+ production server family, but it maintains the same operational look and feel as other Tria+ products so will be extremely familiar to existing customers. Built-in media file import and export tools are a standard feature, along with 16-track embedded digital audio on every video I/O.

Italian broadcast distributor and systems integrator Video Progetti has announced that OB7, the state-of-the-art outside broadcast van it has designed and built for production company L’Opera Broadcast Video Service, will see its first live action in the first week of September. It has been under construction since late Spring.

Now that 4K production has taken off in broadcast, live events, sports and beyond, 8K and 16K production loom large on the horizon, prompting a demand for higher resolution video decoding and playback tools. Media solutions provider Spin Digital addresses this growing need with the Spin Digital Media Player – a high-performance 8K HEVC media player. Comprising proprietary software and industry standard hardware, it facilitates real-time HEVC/H.265 decoding and playback of UltraHD video on PC systems and has been used to transmit 4K, 8K and 16K video for large-scale event productions, broadcasts, virtual reality (VR) experiences and more. For audio and video I/O, the system uses a KONA 5 card and a Corvid 88 multi-stream, multi-format card.

AJA Video Systems has started shipping KUMO 3232-12G compact routers, featuring 32x 12G-SDI inputs and 32x 12G-SDI outputs in a portable 2RU profile for flexible and cost-efficient 12G-SDI routing. Designed for use in broadcast, production and ProAV environments, KUMO 3232-12G supports large format resolutions, high frame rates and deep color formats, while reducing cable runs when transporting 4K/UltraHD over SDI. KUMO 3232-12G offers network-based and/or physical control and mirrors the form of AJA’s production-proven KUMO 3232 routers, with the additional benefit of a new USB port for configuring IP addresses via AJA’s eMini-Setup software. For emerging 8K workflows, KUMO 3232-12G is also equipped for multi-port gang-routing.
