Today the National Film and Television School (NFTS) officially opens the Sony Gallery, which is located in its ground-breaking 4K Digital Content Training Studio. Part of the new state-of-the-art facilities at its Beaconsfield campus, the new space will provide an unparalleled opportunity for students to learn the ropes of television production and prepare them for the world of modern broadcasting, with the ability to shoot, record, and stream live content in 4K.

Snell Advanced Media (SAM) announced that Belgian OB and facilities company, DB Video, has invested in its flagship Kahuna 6400 multi-format production switcher to provide HDR support for live SD, HD and 4K/UHD productions. The Kahuna, along with its modular switcher interface panel, is housed in OB-11, DB Video’s new mid-sized OB vehicle.

VIDELIO, a leading digital media systems integrator, today announced the launch of the 4K and IP ACADEMY in partnership with vendors Cisco and EVS. The training programs are specifically designed with engineers, broadcasters, and media professionals in mind. The goal is to help organizations transition from legacy Serial Digital Interface (SDI) networks to next generation IP-based broadcast infrastructure.

Technology and production center switzerland ag (tpc) builds one of the first OB vans for IP-based UHD live production worldwide, choosing Sony’s HDC-4300 camera. The multimedia market leader and technical service provider for radio and TV in Switzerland purchased 21 HDC-4300 cameras. The cameras are already in use and were chosen for their reliability and the possibility of producing in 4K when needed.

Cinevideo, an Italian production company specialising in content creation and television productions, has selected Sony Professional Solutions as a strategic partner for the development of its first 4K HDR OB Van, capable of handling the most demanding audio-visual productions. The OB Van is present at IBC in the demonstration area dedicated to mobile productions. The OB Van, equipped with Sony's XVS-8000 video mixer and Sony HDRC-4000 conversion unit, will allow Cinevideo to offer major broadcasters - such as RAI, Mediaset and Sky - simulcast single production workflow of major Italian and international events for HDR, SDR, UHD, HD signals. The HDRC-4000 is crucial to “SR Live” - the efficient HDR Live Production workflow developed by Sony. Equally, the powerful new XVS-8000 video mixer both works within the SDI infrastructure and is IP ready.

At IBC2017 Sony unveiled the UHC-8300, its first 8K camera system to include three 1.25-inch 8K sensors. The UHC-8300 was demonstrated at the Sony stand for the first time globally. It opens up the world of 8K with the flexibility to offer customers new capturing technology for shooting in 4K and more.

As part of the collaboration between Panasonic and Berlin Phil Media, Panasonic System Communications Company Europe (PSCEU) planned and built a new UHD-HDR production facility in the Berliner Philharmonie. Panasonic was supported by the Munich based system integrator VIDEOCATION.

Cinevideo, one of Italy's foremost broadcast service providers and rental houses, has installed two Calrec Artemis Light consoles on Dolphin 7.0, its all-new, flagship 4K OB vehicle. In a deal that shows the growing adoption of IP infrastructures for the production of tomorrow’s major live events, XT4K live production servers from EVS will be implemented into two central production hubs by NEP Australia, which the facilities provider will operate for a new IP-driven remote production network.

PHABRIX announced that Italian broadcast production company Cinevideo is installing the PHABRIX Qx 12G to serve as the main test and measurement system for IP, 4K/UHD (12G-SDI), and HD within its state-of-the-art outside broadcasting (OB) truck called Dolphin 7.0. Supplied by system integrator Video Signal, the PHABRIX Qx 12G gives Cinevideo's newest 4K mobile unit a rich array of advanced signal generation, analysis, and monitoring capabilities.

Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, has announced that leading broadcast equipment hire company ES Broadcast Hire has selected a significant number of Grass Valley LDX 86^N Series cameras and LDX 82 Series cameras to increase its 4K and HD hire fleet. All cameras are enabled with Grass Valley’s unrivalled native HDR acquisition.

French rental house, Video Plus, is the latest company to invest in EVS’ industry-leading UHD-4K live production technology, as it prepares to meet growing customer demand for UHD-4K production services. The deal, which was agreed at IBC2017 in Amsterdam, includes the purchase of multiple EVS XT4K live production servers, as well as XFile3 systems for file transfer and archiving.

Today at IBC, ES Broadcast Hire announces a significant investment in Sony 4K HDR technology, with the purchase of 100 x HDC-4300 4K system cameras, 2 x HDC-4800 Ultra High Frame Rate cameras, and 2 x XVS-8000 4K switchers.
